- Ethnobiological notes
- The California quail was introduced to British Columbia as early as the 1860s. It is known that the mountain quail was also introduced into the province during this time, but it is thought that this quail may be a native bird. Both quails occur in the southeastern portion of Vancouver Island, the mountain quail being more restricted to the extreme southeast.
