Ethnobiological notes
The moon snail is a large, round sea snail found intertidally and deeper. The moon snail feeds on a variety of clams by drilling a hole in the shell and eating the soft part inside. One can tell if a clam has been eaten by a moon snail if the clam shell has a small round hole in it near the hinge.
